Empowering Children's Homes and Communities in Kilifi through Sustainable Solutions

Funded in 2025.

Kilifi County, situated along Kenya’s coast, has a population exceeding 1.5 million people. Despite its natural beauty and rich culture, many areas, especially children’s homes and nearby communities, struggle with limited access to reliable lighting, clean cooking solutions, and basic infrastructure. These challenges affect the health, education, and overall well-being of vulnerable children.

This project aims to support children’s homes and their surrounding environments in Kilifi by providing essential, eco-friendly solutions that improve daily living conditions. In its initial phase, the project will distribute 20 solar lamps and 30 clean cookstoves to selected children’s homes and neighbouring households.

The solar lamps will enhance evening study time and safety, while the stoves will reduce indoor air pollution and fuel consumption, promoting better health and environmental conservation.

The initiative is designed to run on a rolling basis, with continuous assessment and expansion. Future phases will involve scaling up the distribution of solar-powered and clean energy solutions, conducting training on usage and maintenance, and identifying additional needs within the community.
